The Restu Research Centre for Islamic Arts & Crafts is one of the main pillars of Restu Foundation. For most of the projects undertaken by the Foundation this centre is the one that carries detailed researches before starting any project. The centre has three departments which are:
Conceptual Designing Department
This department is responsible about research and development tasks related to conceptual designing. The department has successfully carried out different researches for and at different countries including Malaysia, Singapore, Nigeria and more.Such effort took place for the purpose to preserve such art from being extinct and to bring success to the projects of this department.
This department is also responsible about the designs and the production of products such as the Art of the Qur’anic Words, Letters, Ceramic, Textile, Handmade Craft, Handmade Greetings Cards,Brooches, and others. Among the activities and products of this departments are:
Preparation of the Motifs or the Illumination : Below are some of the products
whereby their designs were prepared by this department: al-Qur’an Mushaf Malaysia（1994-2000), al-Qur’an Mushaf Nur Fatimah (2000), al-Qur’an Mushaf Mahathir（2000-2003), al-Qur’an Mushaf Kailan (2004-2007),
Al-Qur’an Mushaf Nigeria（2006), al-Qur’an Mushaf Pulau Pinang, al-Qur’an Mushaf Malay Translation, àl-Our’an Mushaf English Translation,, al-Qur’an Mushaf Dunia Malayu (Jawi) and al-Qur’an Mushaf Malaysia (Multimedia version)
Preparation of Illumination for other Designs : The conceptual designing department also cooperates with other units such as Marketing department, Islamic Architecture & Interior Design department,Calligraphy centre and Craft department in preparing designs on different surfaces such as tiles, rocks,elephants’ tusk, woods, eggs and many more, as requested.
As for other services provided, then they are: Research and Development, designs of personal Mushafs, preparation of designs on verities of surfaces, design & craft workshops and motivational handmade craft.
Colouring Department
The work of this department is concerned with colouring and types of colours to be used. Before an art piece is coloured,the department conducts through research to determine the colouring concept and strategy,types of colours to be used and colour combination.
Besides using acrylic colours, the department has invented its own and unique formulas using herbs and plants from around the world. Some of the herbs and plants used are: star anise,fingerroot,ginger flower,melastoma,butterfly pea,turmeric and gambir.
The department has carried out many colouring tasks for Mushafs, Yasin and selected Surahs and for interior design project.

Souvenir Products: Products produced by Restu Foundation using multipurpose paper and batik. They are handmade products and are suitable as gifts for students, teachers etc. for example:Note books, Bookmarks, Key chains,Calligraphy pens and Greeting cards
